About the Chalk

Liquid chalk goes on wet and dries into a thin, even coating — great for gyms with loose chalk rules, hot days, or sweaty hands. It lasts longer per application and creates less mess. Powder chalk gives you that classic feel with immediate coverage and easy reapplication mid-climb. Most climbers use liquid as a base coat and powder for touch-ups. Both are 100% magnesium carbonate — no fillers, no additives.

If you're new to Grippa, or you want chalk that lives in your bag rather than on a shelf, start with the 70g. It's the same 100% magnesium carbonate as our big bags, just portioned down.

If you climb regularly, go straight to a 200g — it works out to roughly a third less per gram and it's what you'll refill from. Pick Premium for a fine, fast-coating powder, or Chunk & Powder if you like crushing chunks for a heavier layer that lasts longer in the bag.

Powder chalk doesn't expire — magnesium carbonate is a mineral and stays effective indefinitely when stored dry. Liquid chalk has a shelf life of about 1–2 years unopened. Once opened, use it within 6–12 months for best performance. If the liquid chalk thickens or separates, just give it a good shake — it's still good to use.

Yes — liquid chalk is allowed (and often preferred) in most climbing gyms, including gyms that restrict or ban loose powder chalk. Because it dries on your hands before you touch the wall, it produces virtually no airborne dust. Always check your specific gym's rules, but Grippa Liquid Chalk is a great option for chalk-restricted environments.

Our 50ml bottle gives you approximately 40–50 applications depending on how much you use per session. For most climbers that's 2–4 weeks of regular gym sessions. Our subscription options are the best value if you climb multiple times a week.

Grippa chalk is made with pure magnesium carbonate — no fillers, dyes, or synthetic additives that often cause irritation. Our liquid chalk uses isopropyl alcohol as a carrier, which evaporates quickly. If you have very sensitive skin, we recommend moisturizing after sessions as chalk (any chalk) can dry hands over time. If you have a specific allergy concern, reach out to us and we'll help you out.

Brushing the chalk build-up and old tick marks off a hold before you pull on gives you a cleaner surface to grab — and outdoors it's basic etiquette, since leftover chalk is what turns a problem into a mess for everyone behind you.

Ours uses real boar's hair. It's firm enough to move chalk and rubber, and soft enough that it won't polish the rock the way stiff nylon can. Care is simple: tap or wipe the bristles clean, keep water off the wooden handle, and let it dry fully. The handle is rubberwood, and rubberwood doesn't like being soaked.

About the Apparel

Each shirt is designed in Clearwater, Florida and printed on demand by our production partner. We use water-based DTG (direct-to-garment) inks for a soft, durable finish that won't crack or peel like cheap screen prints. Every piece is made specifically for your order — we don't hold pre-made inventory, which means less waste and exactly what you want.

It varies by product:

Fitz Roy Tee — 100% heavyweight cotton (6.8 oz), drop shoulder relaxed fit
The Helping Hand Tee — 73% cotton, 27% Sorona cooling blend (7.1 oz) with official Sorona hang tag
Don't Fear The Fall Tee — 100% heavyweight mineral wash cotton (8.1 oz), oversized boxy crop fit

All shirts are unisex and built to last. Specific fabric details are listed on each product page.

Every apparel product page has a Size Guide button next to the size selector with full measurements in inches. Each style fits differently — our Sorona Cooling tee runs true to size with a relaxed cut, while our Mineral Wash Boxy is intentionally oversized and shorter. Check the chart and sizing notes on each product page before ordering. If you're between sizes, we share specific recommendations on each page.

Mineral wash is a manual dyeing process that gives each shirt a slightly unique finish. Minor color variations and texture differences are part of the character — no two are exactly alike. We do our best to show accurate photos, but every shirt will have its own subtle personality. This is intentional and part of what makes the piece special.

Because each shirt is made specifically for your order, we can only accept returns for items that arrive damaged, defective, or are sent in error (wrong size or color from what was ordered). Sizing issues that match our size chart are not eligible. We strongly recommend measuring yourself or a shirt you already love and comparing to our size guide before ordering. Full details in our refund policy.

Since apparel is made on demand, items don't truly sell out the way warehoused products do. If a variant shows as unavailable, it usually means our production partner is temporarily out of that specific blank. Check back in a few days or email us if you want to be notified when it's back.

Yes. We're an outdoor brand expanding beyond chalk — the boar's hair brush is the newest piece. Expect more tees, hoodies, hats, chalk bags and other essentials throughout this year and into next. Sign up for our email list at the bottom of any page to be the first to know.

Deals & Free Gift

50mL of liquid chalk, a 70g pouch of loose powder, and a boar's hair brush — a base coat, top-ups, and something to clean the holds with. It's how most climbers actually chalk up, and the cheapest way to try all three before you commit to a full 200g bag.

It's a limited launch run. Once the window closes, the kit goes with it.

Yes, two of them. Any order of $25 or more that includes chalk (or any non-apparel item) comes with a free gift, on us. And every order $40 and over ships free within the US. Your cart shows how close you are to each. Stickers are the one exception to the $40 — they always ship free on their own, so they don't count toward that total.

A little extra we tuck into qualifying orders as a thank you for climbing with us. It rotates from time to time, so consider it a nice surprise when your order lands.

Just add any chalk to your order. Apparel ships from our print partner, so an apparel-only order does not pass through our warehouse for us to add a gift. Add a chalk item and we can include it. Your apparel still counts toward the $25 total and toward the $40 free shipping.

Because stickers already ship free, every time, with no minimum. They go out as a plain letter, so there's no postage for you to unlock. That means a sticker on its own arrives free, and it doesn't push your order toward the $40 threshold either — that number is for the gear we pack and ship from our warehouse. Stickers do still count toward the $25 free gift.
